Jordan Sparks wins American Idol season 6

jordan sparks_1.jpg Congradulations to Jordan Sparks for winning season 6 of American Idol. She belted out her songs Wednesday night like a real pro and was rewarded with the title of American Idol. (Sorry for the rhyme. It just came out.) The contest didn't even seem close although Blake Lewis gave a rousing rendition of "The Show" with Doug E. Fresh. Jordan got over 74 million votes to become one of hte youngest winners along with Carrie Underwood. Let's hope she has just as much success as Carrie has had.

The season finally was of course jammed packed with celebrities such as

Gwen Stefani who sang "4 in the morning"
Smokey Robinson who sang "Being with you"
Carrie Underwood who sang "I'll Stand by You"
Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard
Bette Midler who sang "Wind Beneath My Wings" - I just love that song!
Clive Davis who celbrated Carrie Underwood's success with her debut album "Some Hearts"
Tony Bennet, a total class act and true American Idol, who sang "For Once in my Life"
Melinda Doolittle, former Idol contestant, BeBe Winans, and CeCe Winans belted out "Hold Up the Line"
Green Day reminded us all of the tragedy in Darfur with "A Working Class Hero is Someone to Be"
Gladys Knight rocked the stage with "midnight Train to Georgia" and "I feel a Song"

Blake Lewis said, when the final 24 were announced, that he thought Jordan was going to be the winner. That says a lot since he was obviously in the top 24 himself. He seemed to be a very gracious second place winner and that to me makes him a ture American Idol as well. I hope he does well without winning. Even Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson had to say that they picked Jordan to win over Blake simply because she had it going on. Poor Paula Abdul just wouldn't bring herself to pick. I am sure, however, that she had a fave but will not admit it.

So congradulations to Jordan Sparks on her win Wednesday for American Idol.
