Living near the Stars - Sean Taylor

I have to say that this post for Living near the Stars is not the usually one you would expect. We want to pay our respects to Sean Taylor's family and friends that will miss him. Sean Taylor was a local boy of sorts as he was born in Miami on April's Fools Day in 1983. He was one of 4 true freshmen to play for Miami during the 2001 national championship season and was a huge part of the team for the four years he played. He was picked up by the Washington Redskins in the first round, pick 5. I am not going into all his stats as you can look them up if you are interested. What I want to focus on today is that you never know what will happen so enjoy life and the smiles that you will receive in the process.

Sean Taylor went out his bedroom door when he heard noises in his home. This is why you should do your best to protect your home against intruders. Thank goodness, his fiance and 18 month old daughter were not injured during the accidental murder but will have to live with the tragic results for the rest of their lives. Sean Taylor's death was completely unnecessary. He did what anyone would do, he got up to find the source of the noise. My heart goes out to our neighbor, Miami, and Sean Taylor's family at the loss. If you think you have an intruder, stay in your room and call 911. Don't be a hero. Sean did nothing out of the ordinary and his death was a rare thing as it would be extremely difficult to actually hit the femoral artery on purpose. I have a hard time believing the 4 men went into the home determined to kill him. It was a robbery gone wrong. Now 4 young men are being charged with murder.

Don't get me wrong. We all should be held accountable for our actions. I just think this entire deadly situation is a tragedy in so many ways.

Sean Taylor was a hugely talented football player and all around good person. Everyone has their faults but he was a good man.
The initial crime should have only been burglary - not murder.
A beautiful baby will not grow up with her father.
A wonderful young lady will have to raise her daughter without the love of her life.
4 men now face murder charges.

So make sure that if you think you have an intruder, you call the police. I would rather Fort Lauderdale's finest coming to your home with no issues to find than for you to loose your life as well in such a needless and tragic way.
