Rescuing a Broward County home can be rewarding

As sad as it is, there will always be something good that we can find in a bad story, whether it is a real estate deal or a bad police story. Here in Broward County, there was a touching story last week coming out of Pompano Beach here in Broward County. The Broward Sherriff’s Office, BSO, went on a successful drug raid but found something they didn’t expect to find. There were 3 pit bull puppies and 4 adult pit bulls that were being abused. The pit bulls were rescued by the kind hearted police officers and taken to the Coral Springs Animal Hospital. As soon as they are given a clean bill of health, they will be placed for adoption.

What does this sweet rescue story have to do with real estate, you ask? Nothing and everything… When you are looking to buy a home in Broward County, you need to have an experienced Realtor to steer you right where the action is, just like the police were able to find the house where the action was. Once you find the diamond in the rough, you never know what you will find. You might be lucky to find just the obvious things wrong with a home like light fixtures that need to be updated or doors that need to be replaced. Once you take the old out, the home will be perfect for you.

However, sometimes, even in Broward County, you find a surprise that needs to be rescued like those beautiful pit bull puppies. There might be windows that leak or plumbing that might need replacing. Rescuing a home in need is the best feeling in the world. There are some quick fix up projects that, once you have bought your new home, will spruce it up quick. These are also the same tips that would be good to do if you are looking to sell.

Clean your windows and gutters.
Find all the bad smells in your new home. Most likely culprits are old carpet and dirty bathroom floors. A little vinegar will take care of the floor and replacing the carpet will fix the odor.
Walk all over the house and find the squeaky spots. Secure them before you replace any flooring.
A fresh coat of your favorite color paint will take care of a facelift on your new walls.
Add ceiling fans if you can. This will add a coolant effect as well as give a new attitude to your new ceilings.

Theses are just a few fixer upper ideas that will get your new home to be uniquely yours. And that is what you always wanted from the beginning. You have taken the time to find the perfect structure but very rarely will you find the perfect home. So find the one that has the perfect feel for you and then rescue it and adopt it as your own, just like those puppies will need.
