Ever wonder how to pick the right house for you? I have been asked this question so many times that I have a given answer. Then I thought more about it the other day when the answer I gave a client didn’t seem to hit home. So let’s try another way to look at house hunting. Here are the top 10 best ways to go house hunting.
- House hunting with a Realtor. Talk to your realtor. They are your best friend when it comes to picking out your new home. They know all the tricks of the trade to get into the house of your dreams.
- House hunting on a budget. Don’t get into trouble with your first house. Buy exactly what you can afford and then build equity. This will allow you to get something a little bigger when you need it and put a larger down payment on it at the same time.
- House hunting according to your needs. Decide on what your needs will be for the next five years. There is no need to undersize your needs if you can afford it.
- House hunting in your perfect neighborhood. Getting into a quiet neighborhood if you aren’t a very quiet person isn’t the best idea.
- House hunting with knowledge. Here is a great list of pros and cons of house hunting that you might want to take a look at. I love the list!
- House hunting with work in mind. Will you need to commute or will you be using the public transportation system? Keep your location in mind.
- House hunting with kids in mind if you have them. You want to get into the right school district in Broward County for your kids and we at the Adler Team can do just hat for you.
- House hunting with an advantage if you can. Get pre-approved so you don’t have to wait on approval. Sellers love first time buyers because they don’t have to wait on another house to sell before you can close on their house.
- House hunting with limitations in mind. If you have special needs, keep them in mind. For instance, if you need one level living, don’t even bother with anything other than a condo with elevators or one floor homes. Stairs just won’t do.
- House hinting with your repairing abilities in mind. If you are handy around the house, a fixer upper is perfect for you. If you don’t know the difference between a flat head and a Phillips screwdriver, I would suggest buying a ready to move in house unless you have money for repairs.
So there you have it. The top 10 best ways to go house hunting. Keep these tips in mind when you come to see me and we begin our exciting adventure to find your new home.
