I ran across a great article from about.com listing the top 15 reasons to move and sell your home. They have a great list that I thought I would pass on to you but with my own little twist. So have a good time and pick any one of the reasons to move as a good excuse to call me and get your home on the Broward County real estate market.
- Your home is too small. Sometimes you just outgrow your current home.
- Upgrade to a new home. Your needs are different when you buy your first home versus buying a second or third home.
- Fix your home choice error. Sometimes you fall in love with a home for the wrong reasons and then realize your mistake after you have lived in it for a while.
- Job transfer. Very few people stay at the same job all their life.
- Personal relationships. A divorce or separation causes about 1/3 of the houses on the market to find their way there.
- Neighborhood changes. Sometimes the old neighborhood just isn't the same.
- Empty nest. When the kids move out, you might want to downsize. That is, unless your kids are going to clean your home for you every week.
- See family more often. This is a good one as most people want to relocate to be closer to family as they age. Or in some cases, as they get bigger with new arrivals.
- See family less. I am not going here lest I get in trouble. HAHA!
- Retirement. I love the guy who wanted to sell his home because his goal for retirement was to move to Spain. Now that is retirement life at the fullest!
- Health problems. No one buys a home thinking that one day they will need a handicap accessible home.
- Deferred maintenance. Once your home starts needing those general maintenance repairs, some people just sell.
- Home improvement perfection. Some people have a knack for fixing things up and just love the feeling of accomplishment.
- Cash in equity. I am not sure I agree with this one but it was on the list. Some people just want the money out of their home. I am willing to admit that this one just makes no sense to me.
- Lifestyle change. I have to say that in Broward County, this one makes the most sense. Some people just want a change of pace and the beach is the perfect place to get that.
So there you have it. The top 15 reasons to sell your home and move. Just pick one of them that seems to fit your mood today and call me. I can get your home on the market so fast that it will sell before you have a chance to change your mind. That's my challenge to you today.
