Nov 09 Waterfront living in Fort Lauderdale - La Nina

Welcome back to our waterfront living series on the ins and outs of living in Fort Lauderdale. There are so many things that i love about living on the ocean. One of my favorite things about living near the water is ... the weather. I am a weather freak. I love to watch a good storm roll in off the ocean. There is nothing more interesting to me than to see the delineation of clouds over the horizon. You can actually watch the storms roll onto the shore and feel the barometric pressure rise and fall. Walking on the beach when the winds change makes me want to take my shoes off. Have you ever experienced the air actually change while you were walking on the beach? I hope everyone can experience it just once.
But this year, La Nina will dominate the weather here in Southern Florida. Apparently, we will see slightly warmer winter days this year as La Nina sits on our shores. This simply means that our daily winter highs might be in the lower 80's instead of the average highs of the 70's during the winter months. I love the fact that living near the water here in Fort Lauderdale means that we get warmer weather in the winter and this winter will be no exception. I have never liked cold weather. 75 degrees sounds good to me if I had to choose temperatures int he 70's vs 10's in the winter. It seems this year might be a very nice winter for those of us who keep cold feet in the wintertime. I'll have to let you know if I have to still wear feet warmers this year. HA HA!
