What do nuns have to do with Real Estate and Realtors

I just love this picture of 5 nuns at a bar getting a little bit of refreshment. It reminds me that you should never judge a book by its cover. I have seen it several times over the years but never put it in relation to real estate before today. Can you do it yet? You can look at these nuns at a bar in relation to real estate two ways.

The nuns are the homes in the Broward County Area, or anywhere for that fact. They are safe and usually very nice to their friends, the current owners. But just get them out of their element and you might have a little Whoopie Goldberg on your hands.
The Bar owner is the seller of the home you are looking at. The seller decided to do some interesting marketing and you haven’t paid attention. Have you? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have picked that particular house to look at.
The bar stools are an interesting home staging technique. Someone has taken a lot of time to go out of their way to make you interested in what they have to sell, notably a home that might not be just perfect for you.
The photographer is the mortgage lender that will take your picture in the most inappropriate or oversized home they can let you purchase so that you can get a bigger mortgage.

The bar stools are the home owner’s idea of home staging. Sometimes it is appropriate and sometimes it is a little over done. It is my job to show you he difference. Otherwise you will get into a home that isn’t right for you and I wouldn’t be doing my job. So I don’t let you sit down before you get a good look at the bar stools first.
The photographer is the mortgage lender that we can set you up with over at Best Rate Mortgage House. They will make sure you are happy with all aspects of the deal before they ever let you sign on the bottom line. Extra taxes, insurance rates, and the perfect interest rate for you will be discussed before you get to far into it. In other words, they will use a Polaroid camera first so that you can see the outcome before it becomes permanent.

See the difference? It is our job to look out for you and your interests. We want you happy with both your new home and the whole home buying experience. Chances are that you didn’t just buy the home you will retire in.
