So our own Miami Dolphins' Jason Taylor is doing quite well on Dancing with the Stars so far.  Looks like he will continue on to the next week of competition.  Who would have known that a huge NFL defensive end would be able to move like that!  Looks like Jason isn't the only one dancing these days though.

It seems that the housing market enjoyed a turn for the better by 3%.  I know it isn't a trend but it feels good to hear something positive for a change.  So how about you and your home?  Do you have one on the market that you can't sell?  I could tell you that we could sell it for you, and we can, but I would rather show you some good ways to help yourself.  Maybe from that you will know we are trustworthy and are here to help in any way we can.

  • Make sure you have spruced up the front yard for a perfect first impression.  Do a good paint job on the overhangs and front door.  Pick up the trash and get those toys out of hte front yard.
  • Declutter your home.  Put away the clutter so that your home doesn't seem so overwhelming.
  • Cookies anyone?  There is nothing better than the smell ov freshly made cookies when you come to look at a home.  So, if you have time, bake a batch of cookies and leave them for the potential buyer to enjoy.
  • Let the sunshine in.  A little sunshine goes a long way to making your home seem more cheerful.
  • Clean those windows.  There is nothing worse than trying to highlight a beautiful view of the water only to look through dirty windows.
  • Finally, get out of the house.  Unless you are selling the home yourself, it is never a good idea to hang around or sit in your car while a potential buyer is looking at your home.

So why not dance around your home with a "SOLD" sign in the yard if you do just the little extra things that will make your home stand out.  Good luck.

Talk to you later,

Christine

waterfront_living.jpgWelcome back to our waterfront series on the second Friday of each month.  We have looked at many areas of living near the water here in Fort Lauderdale and have covered several ways to prepare for hurricane season.  If you want to, check out our most popular articles on Hurricane preparedness 101 and 201.  I have really enjoyed this series simply because I love the water.  So talking about things near the water is just fun for me.  So today I want to say WHEW!  We made another year without a major hurricane in Florida and we can now take a breath with ease.

Sean_Taylor.jpgI have to say that this post for Living near the Stars is not the usually one you would expect.  We want to pay our respects to Sean Taylor's family and friends that will miss him.  Sean Taylor was a local boy of sorts as he was born in Miami on April's Fools Day in 1983.  He was one of 4 true freshmen to play for Miami during the 2001 national championship season and was a huge part of the team for the four years he played.  He was picked up by the Washington Redskins in the first round, pick 5.  I am not going into all his stats as you can look them up if you are interested.  What I want to focus on today is that you never know what will happen so enjoy life and the smiles that you will receive in the process.

keeping warm_1.jpgI hate getting up in the morning and having my feet cold for any reason.  Visiting with friends who have tile in their bathroom also reminds me that cold tile in the morning is no fun.  So with heating costs rising this year, I thought this would be a good time to go over a few ways to keep your home warm this winter.
